I am pleased to share our 2016 Annual Report which highlights how the Virginia Early Childhood Foundation (VECF) is building on the groundwork laid over the past ten years, targeting our resources and innovative approaches to help ensure optimal outcomes for Virginia’s young children. The Commonwealth’s investment in the public-private First Connections VA network has yielded a strong track record that reflects the synergy and collaboration of many Virginians who understand the direct link between a strong early start and a productive future workforce.

Over the past decade, public and private sector commitment has resulted in important funds leveraged for school readiness. This year alone, VECF and First Connections VA partners leveraged $22 million in public and private dollars to benefit children and families across the Commonwealth, building from $1.5 million in state general funds. This 20:1 ratio reflects the increasing recognition of the importance of school readiness to Virginia’s future economic competitiveness.

We appreciate your continued partnership and commitment to our work.

Sincerely,
